| Dear Friends,
Summer sewing camp is under way and the girls are having a great time! This is the beginner 8-12 age group. Beyond the Basics summer sewing camp for those who have attended or are ages 13-18 begins on July 12-16. Please sign up if you haven't already. We want to be sure we have enough kits, patterns and supplies prepared.
Thank you for all of the great suggestions for a new name for Numetrics Road. I especially enjoy the ones where you give an explanation as to why you chose that name. I will continue to take suggestions for one more week before making a final decision. This is a big one, you know, and I don't like to be hasty in making a big decision! If you have a suggestion, please let us know.
I will be heading out to Minneapolis on July 26 for Viking convention. They will be introducing the new Ruby sewing and embroidery machine and new 5D software. I'm sure we'll have lots of new things to share when we get back!
We have three kits left of the "Coming Up Roses" quilt kit that is displayed in our front window. This is a beautiful and LARGE quilt that is so easy to make because the center of it is small panels sewn together. Once these kits are gone, I cannot get any more of this fabric, so if you are interested, get yours now. The cost is $130 and this makes a large, king size quilt. We still have a few of the Shop Hop quilt kits left as well. The pattern will be available in a few weeks if you didn't get all of the blocks.
Open House will be on Sunday, July 11, from 1-4 pm. Please RSVP if you plan to come. We have a list, as many of you have already responded and we are glad you are planning to come. To accommodate the parking issue, and because the winding driveway to our home is narrow in some places, we are offerring shuttle service from the Ice Mine (formerly Divito park) to our retreat. Simply park in the lot at the Ice Mine and Rick will be driving a large van to transport you back and forth. We are less than a mile from the Ice Mine. I think that will be easier for everyone. Maybe I should say "Jerry" will be transporting visitors! If you saw the article in the Herald Standard on Sunday you will know what I am referring to. I knew that I had a new addres, a new house, a new business, and a new granddaughter, but I didn't know I had a new husband, too!! Rick's name is not Jerry-it was a mistake!
The photos this week are of the new fountain, one in the daylight and one at night with the lights. I just LOVE to go out by the pond in the evening and watch the lights and hear the water and the bullfrogs. It sounds like a bullfrog symphony because they each have different tones and seem to be singing to each other! It is so peaceful! Last Friday night after UFO, we got home about 12:20 am and Rick said, "Are you going out to sit by the fountain tonight?" And, of course, I said YES! I went out and sat there for about 15 minutes just because that is how I like to end my day, regardless of what time it happens to be!

Many of you have asked about the Sue Cook Gingerbread paper piecing retreat at Seams Like Home July 16-18. We will open it up to local people as long as there is room. The price for the two days of class (Friday evening and Saturday with lunch included) is $125. If you are interested, please get your name on a list. It will be first come, first served, and overnight guests will get first choice. We will have to limit the class size. Please see the website for details if you are interested in the entire weekend package. www.seamslikehomeretreat.com |
