Volume 6 Number 1                               January 3, 2012

Dear Friends,

Please note:

SEW SPECIAL WILL BE CLOSED MONDAY, JANUARY 2 & TUESDAY, JANUARY 3 FOR INVENTORY!!

When you receive this email, Claudia, Mary and I will be busy counting, counting, counting!  However, I must say that you have made our job much easier by buying up so much fabric last week.  You emptied MANY, MANY bolts, which we will not have to count. Plus we now have room for the new fabric that will be coming in.  Our Bargain Corner $3.99 yard fabric has been fully restocked.

We are back on track with a free pattern of the week.  This week's pattern features the Woodland Friends collection from Henry Glass Co.  A great baby quilt in styles and colors that contemporary new moms love.  Check it out.

We will be busy preparing for our annual fat quarter fiesta held on Super Bowl Saturday.  All fat quarters will be one dollar for this sale, despite the rising cost of cotton.  Mark your calendar and don't miss it-February 5!

5D Software Event with Soni Grint fromViking
Saturday, January 28, 9am-4pm
Cost:  $35 includes lunch

Soni is absolutely the most knowledgeable, personable and FUN software teacher I have ever had the privilege to learn from, and I am so honored to have her come to Sew Special.  Soni has been working with Viking software from the onset and has helped in all of the innovations and development of the software through the years.  If you own software OR have been considering why you should purchase 5D software, please come on this day and you will have a much better understanding of what you can do.  If you have a laptop with the software, please bring it.  If not, you can partner with someone who does.  This will be an awesome day!
Stack 'n Whack Quilt Class
Thursdays, Jan. 5, 12, &19, 1-4pm
Teacher:  Donna Eicher
Cost:  $45 + materials
Stack n Whack

Here we go again!  Another Stack n Whack class.  Please be sure to note that this is an afternoon class on Thursday, which is a different time than we usually schedule classes.  Room is still available, and this class is a lot of fun.  We will be making the pinwheel throw size quilt using 8 blocks.  They will all be different and look like a kaleidoscope effect.  You will be amazed at the result and how easy this really is!

Wreath for all Seasons
Saturday, Jan. 7, 9am-4pm
Teacher:  Beth Vilsack
Cost:  $30 + materials
Wreath for all Seasons
Join Beth and make a winter wreath to replace the holiday one on your door, or think spring and make a pretty pastel one.  Beth made hers red, white and blue!  It all depends on your fabric choice and embellishments.  This project is from Happy Hollow Designs and uses the 2" fusible grid to create your basic wreath shape.  Make a bow and embellish as desired!

I promised you a photo of the Radiant Star quilt that I made for Craig and Jenn (yes, they both liked it!)  so here it is.  Radiant StarIt is a king size, 105" by 102".
The quilting was done in a neutral gray, which is also the color of the fabric surrounding the black center, and was done in a star and loop pantograph.  I am very pleased with how it came out.  We will have this scheduled as a class in the smaller, wall size version using Eleanor Burns' Radiant Star instructions in April of this year.  I can't believe that I was able to get TWO king size quilts done this year!  No wonder I am so tired-but it is amazing how much satisfaction you have when you see them completed, as you all well know!

Hope you will all get back into the classes and activity here at the shop.   Chris arrived home from Las Vegas at 3:15 pm last Friday after being gone for 6 weeks and called Sew Special within 10 minutes to see if she could sign up for Midnighter's Club that evening.  Of course we had room and were glad to see her back.  That is what I call customer loyalty, or maybe it's just being part of the "Sew Special family."  So come on in and join the fun!

Sincerely,

Donna
