Pieced 18" Tuffet



Tuffets are a beautiful accent to any home and fit with any decor. They make great gifts for special occasions including weddings, new babies, anniversaries or just because. Let your imagination run wild and create that one-of-a-kind conversation piece for your home or for someone else.


**These are some of the tuffets are customers made in our last class.


Fabric Requirements:
1. 64- 2" x 20"-21" strips of fabric. If you want to coordinate fabrics, you will need 8- 1/4 yard cuts of fabric
2. If using the pieced fusible interfacing panels, 1-1/4 yard muslin
3. 6" square of fabric to cover the button
4. 18" square of fabric to cover the tuffet bottom

General Tuffet Supply List:
1. Pattern
2. 18" foam
3. Upholstery needles
4. 2.5" button
5. 40" square of batting
6. wood plywood circle and legs
7. Cording- lightweight cord for blinds

Extras Supply List:
1. All tuffet source finishing kits include the following components:
  a. plywood, 3/4", 17" circle, drilled and sanded
  b. upholstery foam 6" deep, 18" circle
  c. 4 tee-nuts, 5/16"-18
  d. 40" square heavy-weight dacon upholstery batting
2. 4 bun feet with 5/16"-18 hanger bolt already installed
3. Serrated knife to trim foam
4. Upholstery spray adhesive
5. 18" ruler
6. Permanent marking pen
7. Hammer
8. Staple gun and staples
9. Drill: 3/8" and 1/2" drill bit
10. Sandpaper

Button Supply List:
1. All tuffet source finishing kits include the following components:
  a. dritz half dome, 2- 1/2" button
  b. Upholstery weight thread, neutral color, for gathering
  c. dacron upholstery batting scrap
  d. lightweight cord similar to what is used for blinds or roman shares, 4- 19" lengths
2. 12" or longer, upholstery needle for installing button
3. Sewing needles- one for upholstery thread plus a large eye needle to accommodate cord
4. Either a pieces of PVC pipe or clean empty can, at least 3" in diameter, to assist with button installation.

Optional: Purchased trims, rickrack, lace, beads, etc. may be added to completed tuffet. A flat braid, or gimp, may be glued over the staples on the underside for a finished look.
