Join us in celebrating National Zipper Day by serging two festive zipper bags! Yes, we are applying the zippers with our sergers! A simple cosmetic bag will be demonstrated using the optional Viking serger piping/cording foot. We will also be making a roomier box-shaped bag which features a longer zipper.
Project #1: 2 coordinating fabrics cut to 8 ½ “x 13” + 1 piece of fusible fleece cut to same size; 12-inch thin coil zipper or longer (no metal or hard plastic teeth); 4 coordinating threads for serger (can be smaller spools, or a mixture of colors); double-eye needle. If you have a piping or cording foot for your serger, please bring this with you. Sew Special will be able to order one for you, if you have a Viking S21 or S25 serger.
Project #2: 2 coordinating fabrics cut to 18” x 13”+ 1 piece of fusible fleece cut to same size; 2”x 6” strip of fabric for pull tab (this can match or contrast with other fabrics); 16-18 –inch thin coil zipper or longer (no metal or hard plastic teeth); marker (Clover Chaco Liner is great for this project).
